In the weeks leading up to moving day there are a lot of decisions to be made. Not least among these decisions is trying to figure out if you are going to do the packing yourself, or if you are going to hire someone to do it for you. If you decide to pack for yourself, then there are even more decisions! The purpose of this article is to put some tools in your hands, so that you can make more informed decisions about the packing supplies you need.
There are a several ways to approach the purchase of moving supplies. The most simple way is to run to the local home improvement store, and buy the amount of boxes you think you will need. This is a fine approach, but you may find that with the use of some estimating tools you can be more precise on the items you actually need to buy.
** Reminder **
The stakes are low. If you buy way too many boxes there is a good chance you will have the opportunity to return them. The following tools will be useful in the rare case that you cannot return unused boxes, and in the very least they may save you trip to the store at the end of your move.
There are multiple moving supply calculators online for free. Included in this article are two that could be particularly helpful. Both moving.com and isoldmyhouse.com have a built in moving supply calculator. Below are the links to each of them.
At The College Moving Crew we also provide a more basic version of these tools. If you would like a quick estimate of you boxes you may need, simply see the chart below.
We hope that these tools are useful. Please note that when you book The College Moving Crew for their Packing Service all the boxes you need will be included for free. If you would like an estimate for you upcoming move click here.
