Ankeny is a great city, and it is where The College Moving Crew is headquartered. If you are one of the many people moving into the area, we want to welcome you. We would also like to share a list of some of our favorite restaurants in the Ankeny area!
Jethro’s BBQ ‘n Lakehouse - Visit Website
Jethro’s is a popular Ankeny restaurant with a few other locations in Iowa. They have plenty of seating and are open until 9:00 pm or 10:00 pm every night. They have their menu available online, so you don’t need to go there to find out if they have what you like. Jethro’s has a special every night of the week and an eating challenge known as “The World Famous Adam Emmenecker.”
Leaning Tower of Pizza - Visit Website
Another popular local restaurant is Leaning Tower of Pizza. Leaning Tower was started in Des Moines but moved to Ankeny almost 50 years ago and has been around ever since. They have award-winning pizzas and a variety of other menu items as well. Be sure to check them out.
Teriyaki House - Visit Website
A popular Asian restaurant with 3 locations in Iowa is Teriyaki House. It is located on Delaware Ave. in Ankeny. They let you build your Teriyaki Bowls by picking a protein, a “bowl,” and a dressing. They also have everything from sushi to New York Strip loins on their menu. Their staff is friendly and would love to have you stop in for a meal!
Smokey D’s - Visit Website
If you want some undeniably good BBQ, Smokey D’s is the place for you. They have won multiple BBQ championships in their relatively short history. They have a few locations in the greater Des Moines area. Be careful, though; it is unlikely that you will only want to eat there once.
Main Street Café and Bakery - Visit Website
Last but not least on our list is Main Street Café and Bakery. They have an extensive menu of pasta, sandwiches, burgers, breakfast items, melts, and salads. They are a relatively young business, but they got famous fast for a reason. The folks at Main Street Café and Bakery love serving the residents of Ankeny with food that looks and tastes great!
